Have you tried altering your way of living to aid your high blood pressure only to realize it isn't helping very much? At times lifestyle changes by itself usually are not as effective as when combined with blood pressure medication. There are many different varieties of blood pressure level medications out there today. Normally two different medications are widely-used as opposed to 1 on it's own. Here are several of the main high blood pressure medications:- Alpha-Blockers: This medicine lessens nerve impulses to your blood vessels enabling much easier flowing of the blood helping to make your blood pressure lessen.
- Alpha-Beta-Blockers: These work similar to the alpha-blockers but will also slow your heartrate. What this means is less blood pumps through the vessels helping to make your hypertension lower.
- Nerve System Inhibitors: This medication relaxes your blood vessels by managing the nerve impulses making your vessels bigger and decreasing blood pressure.
- Beta-Blockers: These reduce your nerve impulses to your heart and blood vessels, making your heartrate reduce while dropping your blood pressure.
- Diuretics: These are known as 'water pills,' a very common medication. These diuretics work in your kidney, getting rid of all excess sodium along with water out of your body.
- Vasodilators: These open up your blood vessels directly by relaxing the muscle inside your vessel walls which then causes your blood pressure to reduce.
- ACE Inhibitors: ACE is an acronym for 'Angiotensin converting enzyme.' These inhibitors prevent a hormone called angiotensin II from developing, that could typically lead to your blood vessels to narrow. They help the vessels relax which makes your hypertension decrease.
- Angiotensin Antagonists: These block up your blood vessels from angiotensin II. When obstructed these vessels can widen letting your hypertension levels lower.
- Calcium Channel Blockers: These keep any calcium from going into your heart's muscle cells along with your blood vessels which causes your hypertension to reduce.
Another solution to using any medication if at all possible is paying attention to a number of life style habits. Like a good diet can help control your hypertension levels. Substitute salt for other spices and add a lot of fruit and vegetables to your diet.
Get at least half an hour of physical activity or exercise per day. That does not mean you will need to exercise 30 mins at one time. Ten mins every now and again is just as effective.
Keep your stress level at a minimum. High stress can raise your hypertension so discover a thing that relaxes you and allows you to de-stress. Use this when you realise you are stressed out beyond your means.
Aim to reduce tobacco use and consuming alcohol. Laying off totally is much more beneficial but isn't necessarily easy. Remember there are lots of resources and products on the market to help you stop either of these habits.
Occasionally these changes in lifestyle are not going to work by themselves. Your doctor may well prescribe you with a hypertension medication if not two. Just engage with your doctor to see what could be better for you and your high blood pressure. Ask all questions and if you are using other medications inform your doctor. Some medications including oral contraceptives and cold medicines can increase your blood pressure level.
